The Biodex System 3 Pro is an advanced, multi-purpose device that allows clients to retrain specific muscular deficiencies in the body. It can be used as an evaluative and diagnostic tool to identify weakness and muscular imbalances, and can also be utilised as a rehabilitation device to assist in the specific retraining of those impairments.
The System 3 Pro’s computerised testing allows the therapist to determine specific deficiencies in strength from one side to the other through varying speeds of resistance. By using this procedure, the therapist is able to determine various parameters such as the torque, work and power produced during the movement. The data obtained through this testing then assists the therapist in creating a client-specific rehabilitation program to address any deficiencies identified.
The System 3 Pro utilizes isokinetic resistance. Isokinetic resistance is a mode of training wherein the particular joint is taken through a specific range of motion at a predetermined speed. This allows the client to produce a self-regulated force throughout the motion, thereby ensuring safe and effective resistance training specifically designed for the needs of the client. Because the resistance continuously matches the client’s effort, it accommodates variations in patient force output due to weakness, pain or fatigue at specific points in the client’s range of motion. Research has demonstrated that isokinetic resistance is a safe and objective means to quantify physical impairments, with a high correlation to function. Isokinetic testing is considered by many as the standard for assessment of specific functional strength deficiencies.
Use of the System 3 Pro in combination with our therapy services will help clients to identify specific muscular deficits applicable to their activities. By recognising and treating these abnormalities, quicker return to activity is possible, with less chance of recurrence.

In February, 2005, I slipped on some ice fracturing my left upper arm at the shoulder. My life changed in an instant and three weeks later, I had undergone major surgery to the shoulder and remained in a sling for 7 weeks. When I was ready for rehabilitation, I wanted to consider a clinic that was not only convenient but a clinic that would help me to focus on getting back to optimal health so I could play golf and ski again. This is very important to me as I have been very active in those two sports. I picked SEMI. Presently I am receiving physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage therapy. Each of these health professionals have been working very hard to assist me back to optimal health with the goal that I will be playing recreational sports once again. Because of their commitment to my health, I am pleased to say that I have been able to get out on the links sooner than expected and the surgeon is pleased with my progress. At this point, I will not require further surgery.
